I have run & enjoyed the stability of win2k pro for about 2 years, with maybe 2 crashes in that time.

How does XP Pro compare with this performance (given the shorter time span)?

Peter, I’d have to say it’s just as good or better – I’ve had one system running it since the day it was released, 24×7 – and never a crash yet (where’s that knock on wood smiley?)

Even the develpoment system that I run XP Pro on has been hard to kill, and the only time I have had issues with it is when I start tinkering with squirrely hardware drivers. I guess you can say that I’m sold on its stability!

After posting here, i went to the MS site and found a comparison chart of all the windows systems. Line for line of the chart, XP Pro looks like a winner. Glad to hear it is working in real life.

Peter, I’d agree with Mark’s assessment. XP has been very stable for me. I’m running it on two machines at work and one at home. The only stops I’ve had were my own doing at home with a faulty display driver. None since I got a different version from Nvidia about 6 months ago. You’ve got to remember when looking at a comparison on the MS site that MS wants you to always use the latest version. So, you’ve got to take all those comparisons with a grain of salt. They just won’t always tell you the whole story.
