Windows Update has the IE 8 Update available as of 1 PM EST May 2.

IE 10 is available for Windows 7 which can also get an optional IE 11 Upgrade that can be uninstalled if it creates problems.

I was skeptical about IE 10 being available for XP, but I wanted to get it if I could. So I started Windows XP Mode – Windows Virtual PC, Started IE 8, and went to:

      http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-10-details.aspx

      and got the message:

The latest version available for your system is already installed.

Although Internet Explorer 10 will not run on your system, you can download Internet Explorer 10 for other systems.

Clicking “Next” to download Internet Explorer 10 or use the navigation above to continue searching for downloads.

I also checked Microsoft Update, but the only thing there was

Update for Microsoft Security Essentials – 4.5.216.0 (KB2949787)

which I don’t plan to install.

I think what was meant originally here is that there is an update to I.E.8 on XP for the latest zero day vulnerability? Microsoft relented at least in this one instance as far as WU on XP goes.

My bad! I meant IE 8 for XP, IE 10 and 11 for W 7. I had to downgrade from IE 11 to 10 because it would not run my network security camera page correctly.
