I am trying to set up VirtualBox on a couple of new W10 installations – still have a few old games and other XP software I want to keep available. I have original XP Pro installation media and license keys, but nothing with SP3 on it. Links on the MS technet site all come up with not available now. Anyone know a safe site for full iso download of XP now? Thanx

There are a few sites offering a XP SP3 ISO download but I haven’t checked them out to see if they are still active, but as you can still get Windows Updates up until the last ones for XP, you may get the SP through those – but you can check these sites out to see if they give you what you want.

WSUSOffline 9.2.1 last version that supports XP (Legacy tab) with ALL updates.

Thanx guys – I’ll check those out. I went ahead and installed the base XP and the .iso SP2 that I had made years ago and all is working fine in VirtualBox. I don’t really intend on allowing this old OS to get out to the internet, but I’d still like to have it as up to date as possible.

So far I am really pleased with the way VirtualBox has been working and the ease of setup. The wife is happy to have her old board and card games back, and I’m looking forward to revisiting Myst and Riven! Wish I had tried this years ago.

If everything is working as it should then you may not need SP3, but you will have FN’s link to fall back on.

If you still have a box w/ WXP on it you could make a Virtual Machine from that disk with Sysinternals tool

      Legalities not considered of course.

Direct download link for SP3 for XP: http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/svpk/2008/04/windowsxp-kb936929-sp3-x86-enu_c81472f7eeea2eca421e116cd4c03e2300ebfde4.exe

The link is to the .exe file, so after you click it you will need to save the .exe somewhere. Don’t click on ‘Run’, especially if you aren’t downloading using an XP system.

A while back, I was poking around on the web, just for lack of anything better to do, and I came across a site that has original OS’s in ISO form, without any keys, hacks, cracks or Warez. There I found the ISO for Windows XP, pro, SP3.
I couldn’t believe that thing was just laying out there for anyone to download. The site has no registration fees, etc.
It’s just one of those rare sites. So just for the heck of it, I downloaded the ISO, installed it to an old 80GB hard drive that I had laying around and the dang OS booted up my PC and ran like a champ.

I’ve since then overwritten that with something else, but the fact remains, that Windows XP is still out there in CYBER land, for those who can find it. Of course Microsoft won’t give it to you….heck they don’t even want to acknowledge that it still exists. No, I won’t tell where I found it either. Unless you torture me!

I prefer the Windows XP Pro SP3 Black Edition 2014 slipstreamed SATA drivers, WMP11, and all post SP3 updates.

Windows XP Vienna Edition might be fun to play with if it is what I think it is.

Once the After Market programmers (Hackers) got a hold of Windows XP, they started creating all sorts of XP permutations.
XP stripped to the bone and XP Black were just two that comes to mind.
I think that somewhere in my archives, I have at least six different versions.

But that’s all ancient history now. Maybe some day they’ll be worth as much as the original Spider Man comic book.

But having said all that, I still have two of my 20 PC’s that are happily running Windows XP.
It doesn’t stop running, just because it’s getting old. In some ways, I still prefer it.

      Cheers mates!
