XP Pro running on compact flash (Pro)

I was looking into a PC that ran XP Pro from a CF (harsh environment tends to kill spinning media) but have been told that Windows security functions will significantly reduce the life of the CF due to the frequent read/write operations.

Is this true?
Is it something I need to worry about?

I’m not sure about XP running on CF, but will look into it. I wonder if Windoes XP Embedded would suit your purpose ??
