People,

Everytime I perform any task related to Windows Explorer on my work PC…after I close out the function…NOTHING on my Start bar will work for about a minute !!! I hit the Start Button to navigate to a program; & my cursor just sits there lookin’ stupid. Same deal w/ the Quick launch Toolbar. Come to think of it…I can’t even right click on the Desktop to do anything there.

What would make this happen, folks?

    Thanks,

Do you have a drive letter referring to a network folder that is not available any more? Or to a network folder that reacts slowly?

I would also recommend to open Folder Options (from Tools menu), click View tab and uncheck “Automatically search for network folders and printers” option.

If Indexing Service was started, or Fast User Switching is enabled, they can slows down computer performance too. Contact your Help Desk for assistance.

        Hans & kap…

Thanks…sorry it took me so long to get back. I’ve got my local drive ©, my DVD/CD combie drive (D); & a “Removable Disk” (E), which is my Printer hooked up via USB (where the OS is recognizing the media card ports as a removable drive)…so I don’t think it’s a drive or network folder thing. Yet…our network is our F drive, an intranet which the entire office is hooked up to…so, how would I know if there was a missing folder? Is that what you guys mean…a missing folder on our network drive?

        Update:

Wait a minute…I think I found something. Under “My Network Places”…there is a network folder entitled “ftp.steinberg.net”, which I can only assume was installed as part of WaveLab. I wonder if that could be it?

I meant a missing network drive. What happens if you remove the “ftp.steinberg.net” folder?
What happens if you remove the “ftp.steinberg.net” folder?
Well…WaveLab seems to be working OK; & the freeze problem has not occured since then…so…I’m hoping that was it.

            Thanks very much,
