I read Woody’s review of XP that was in the 2/21 Woody’s Watch. Looks bad according to his review. But, I’ve also read rave reviews. Have any of you used it? What do you think? I have been tasked with reviewing the reviews and making the recommendation as to whether we should upgrade from Office 97 to 2K or wait for XP.

I personally have not used it, and will never use it as long as it contains the registration wizard.

i’m using it and despite all the bugs in outlook, will stick with it. i don’t see as many problems with word and excel as i do in outlook, but the features in outlook make it worthwile for me. our company won’t be upgrading for about 6 months though.

if buying more than 5 copies, get a site lic and no registration problems.

they might offer free upgrades if Office2000 is purchased during a specific time period. If you get office2000 during that period, you can upgrade to XP after SP1 at little or no extra charge.

otherwise, i’d probably say to skip office2000 and wait for XP.

Also, is Office XP backwards compatible? Can I share files with others who don’t have XP?

yes, it’s the same as office2000 in that respect. word and excel are compatable to office97 level and access to office2000 level
