XP Link Problems

I just re-installed XP on my dad’s computer and though I worked through most of it’s issues there’s one that’s got me stumped. When you try to open a link from a program (such as filehippo update checker or last.fm scrobbler) it does absolutely nothing. No error messages, nothing. I even tried setting the default program to chrome (though it merely gave me the option to use current browser and I went with that). FYI when I installed chrome I first installed via the internet then replaced it with the original chrome installation from a backup (I didn’t realize at first that the app and it’s data are all in one place instead of the traditional Windows setup). I’ve also tried changing the default to IE and still nothing.

Never Mind, I fixed it. Used CCleaner’s registry scan and deleted everything that was there. Seems to be running fine now. Must’ve been a corrupted entry (also had to set default browser again).
