XP hangs on shutdown

Recently wiped C partition and reinstalled everything although left off some stuff I didn’t need. When I shut Windows down, it hangs, and then the message box comes up, “base2panelform” in the closing program box. I have searched for it, but haven’t found anything like it. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, A105, 1 Gig Ram, XP SP3 and updates. Also have a HP 6210 all-in-one unit, which I am wondering whether some aspects of the HP Imaging app might be part of it. I did all the reinstall to speed up boot up and shut down as well as faster net access. No difference in any of that. All ideas on this appreciated.

Sounds like it could be an HP device, possibly your “HP 6210 all-in-one unit”.
Check in msconfig for this device and disble it as a start up item. Better yet would be to look through
whatever software is responsible for running it and reconfigure it so that it does not start with windows.

I uninstalled all of the HP software and reinstalled it. Seemed to help last night on shutdown. Thanks.

Check this & reduce ur wait time, backup registry before making any changes.
