    Hi,

One of our guys wants to input German & French text into his Outlook Express Emails & other applications.
Which is the best way to do this (he will have English text in the same email/document)?

At the educational television network where I used to work, we used Quickeys to create “macros” for the German umlaut and Latin macron characters and it has served them well for several years. However, this one ISN’T free and that will probably not be to your liking…..

You know I remember seeing some time back on the microsoft.com site, a page which had all the XP keyboard layouts shown graphically.
I wish I could find that URL again – any ideas?

Hi, I write German sometimes and I just use XP`s Onscreen Keyboard. You need to set language in ControlPanel to make the new language as an extra. Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options / Add Another Language. Not the main one which has to remain as English
You will find the Keyboard here All Programs/Accessories/Accessibility
In Keyboard settings choose the 102 Option. I sometimes I have to click around a bit before it resets to that, but it always does
Hope this is what you want

I suppose it depends how much non-English text is to be used, and whether he wants to keep the accents/umlauts/etc.

A clunky way might be to compose the “non-English” text in Word set to the “non-English” language, and cut/paste into OE… (I suppose you’ve already tried this?!)
