XP Clip Organizer error

A friend of mine is having trouble running Clip Organizer in a new install of XP. The install seems to go ok, but every time he tries to run Clip Organizer he gets an error message:

I was having the same problem and was able to fix it by downloading and installing Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.5 RTM. (My husband advised me as to the correct file.)

I can’t remember where I found the info for the fix, but the components can be found on Microsoft’s data download site (http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm).

There are plenty of warnings, so be sure to read them! You may even want to do a full backup before trying this as the consequences of something going wrong seem pretty awful. Luckily, I had no problems and I have the same software setup as your friend – but on a different (home-assembled) computer.
