I recently installed XP. I had been using Office 2000. Now when I open some of my documents that have charts that I copied and pasted from Excel the size of the object changes. The two most recent changed from 100% to !51%. Talk about messing up my documents!

What’s going on? Is there some default setting that I can change?

      Hi Cathy,

This sort of thing happens under previous versions of Word too, just by updating links! Changing printer drivers exacerbates the problem, which you’ll almost certainly have done when moving to XP.

If you go into Tools|options|General – or its XP equivalent – and make sure ‘Update automatic links at open’ is unchecked, your objects might stay put until you change them. Beyond that, you could use a macro to resize/reposition them when the links are updated.

      Cheers

Thanks. Another reason to never upgrade. Oh well.

I’m glad that A. Acrobat is working better with XP than W2K. I’ll be using more pdf files than ever before.
