Does anyone know of an official KB article that includes a download link for the new SHA-2 signed wushowhide.diagcab? Some support forums don’t like users posting direct download links for files and it would be nice to have a link to an official Microsoft KB article or download page on the Microsoft Download Center that includes instructions for using WUshowhide.
The old KB3973930 at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 used to have a link marked “Download the ‘Show or hide updates’ troubleshooter package now”. That link to KB3973930 now re-directs users to the Windows Update: FAQ but I can’t see a download link for the SHA-2 signed WUshowhide anywhere in that FAQ.
The only Microsoft page I could find where they haven’t recently eliminated a link to the wushowhide.diagcab file is this Technet article:
The “Download the troubleshooter from the Microsoft Download Center” link there does now work for the revised file.
(The size is up by a couple of KB from the 45.5 mentioned there to 47.2. And I don’t know why they would say it gets automatically saved to C:\Users\Admin\Downloads, when it really goes to your default downloads folder like anything else.)
I agree. Maybe at some point, either the support article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 could be reinstated or the Windows Update FAQ page could add mentions about the wushowhide utility.
Susan,
I have been using Wushowhide since I learned about it here a couple years ago. It never stopped working, or at least it looks like it is working. It is still hiding the few updates I do not want.
Do I need to download a different Wushowhide to be current? And where do I go to find it?
The word “it” in this sentence from your post looks like a link but does not open anything so I guess that is not the link to Wushowhide.
“He did and just reposted it tonight.”

b,
Do I need an updated certificate or does it just happen or change on the tool I have?
I don’t understand your response to “it” link. What is a direct download? “It” is just dead for me. Nothing happens.
I am using Chrome, do I need to change a setting for the link to work?

Use Edge instead. Did not work with Chrome for me either; I tried several times.
I finally right clicked on “it” and chose “copy link address” from the dropdown menu and put that in my browser.

So here is what I had done. I saved the download and gave it a shortcut. So I had the old wushowhide and the old certificate.
I finally got “it” to open by right clicking “it” and choosing “copy link address” and I put that in my browser and got the new wushowhide. Then I deleted the old wushowhide and saved the new download in the same place and the shortcut went right to the new wushowhide.
And the new one has the correct signed file. See attachment.
