I don’t remember where I read it, but I read, if you put in your contact list, and sub folders, as the first entry, the name !000 and as the e-mail address “wormalert” that any worm that would try to send from your list of addresses that it would stop on this first name and would not continue?? Is that right?

AskWoody LoungerApril 30, 2002 at 12:17 pm #585393Here is another explanation: http://hoaxinfo.com/virusprevent.htm%5B/url%5D
“It sounds really good, and it will work with some of the older worms and viruses… [but] even if you stopped this mass mailing your computer is still infected!”
Yes, it is an old fix, but it is one that costs nothing to use, and might just alert you that you have a problem – though it is certainly not a substitute for adequate anti-virus protection.

AskWoody_MVPApril 30, 2002 at 3:50 pm #585439A good AV like Nortons 2002, will put a stop to this. With this version, the default setting is to scan OUT GOING email also. This pops up a yellew pane showing that you are sending, and is checking the file for virus.
As for the trick, it has never worked, just skipped that address and then went to the next one.
