I have an opportunity to work from home with an Access application that holds sensitive account information. The client is providing encryption software for email, but to avoid the need to encrypt my harddrive I thought I would work from a flash drive while offline. To assure I would not open the app while online I would like to run a routine at opening that would check the status of my lan and disable if needed just in case I was distracted from an opening message warning me to go offline. How could I do that?

A word from the wise – Don’t go there!
Access is very sensitive to interruptions and I have seen many student’s databases get corrupted because they were working direct from a flash drive. One slight touch to the drive whilst Access is doing its thing and your database is toast.

Hmmm…..Thank you Steve, I will give that some serious thought.
