Work & live in different time zones (XP SP2)

I remember in the past that when I travelled OL2k would mess up appt’s birthdays, etc if I created them in one time zone and then edited them while in another. I remember birthdays becoming two day activities or moving to the wrong day entirely!

I’m now on OXP and want to handle two time zones on a regular basis as I’m working in one and living in another. How do you handle something like this without messing up birthdays and various other appointments?

Bryan, I don’t have a lot of experience with this, but want to check if you have used the Tools, Options, Calendar Options, Time Zone Dialog, attached, and try to use one Zone as the preferred Zone, using Swap (switch) Time Zone when necessary.

I’d looked at that but was truly afraid to try it since the last time I messed with time zones I had to recreate the recurrance of everyone’s birthdays! It would make sense that I’d swap when I went to work and then swap back when I went home. Would that change my system clock too? There is NO help about it that I can find and I’d like to understand everything before trying

A while back I asked about using multiple time zones. I’ve been using OL with multiple zones setup as you suggested. I now notice that while I’m in my new work time zone all the birthdays cross two days on the calendar view. I vaguely understand why, they being setup in the other time zone. My question is, is there a better way? Is there a way to see them on the correct day only no matter what time zone I’m currently in?

I haven’t found a way around this problem, which occurs with any 24 hour, all-day and multi-day events. And I appear to have lied with my post in that thread when I said “I don’t have this problem” … I do have the same problem!
