Hi,
When you type a date, the 2 letters after the numbers are superscripted automatically, e.g. 22nd causes the “nd” to be raised up to a superscript level.
How can I stop this?

The option to autoformat ordinals with superscript is checked. But, when I type a date like May 22, the nd doesn’t appear. I made sure the option is checked in autoformat and autoformat as you type. I am using Word 2003. I don’t usually like this, so I had it unchecked. But, a co-worker wanted to see how it works, and when I turned it on with the checkmark, it didn’t work. Any ideas?
As far as I know, Word never automatically adds “st”, “nd”, “rd” or “th” after a number, including the day number in a date.
The AutoFormat As You Type setting to superscript ordinals only means that if you type a number immediately followed by the appropriate postfix yourself, Word will superscript that postfix. So if you type May 22nd, Word will apply superscript to “nd”. It won’t add the “nd” automatically, you have to type that yourself.
