    Hi,

In my template, after typing my heading & pressing Enter, with a couple of my headings, it gives you the NORMAL paragraph style on the next line so you can start typing.

On others, it increments the Heading Number and thus you can insert another heading of the same level (which you would probably never want to do anyway).

How can I make my styles default to ALWAYS reverting to NORMAL style on the line after the Heading, instead of just giving me another line with the heading?

    TIA,

    m.q.

      Hi musab:
I don’t have Word 2002, so you’ll have to modify this slightly. But if you go to Format/Styles (XP has an additional menu option somewhere) & select each heading style in turn & press Modify, you’ll see a place to enter a style for the following paragraph. Just scroll to normal & then OK your way out.
      Cheers,

You can set the following style for each style in the style definition. (Format/Style then choose the style in the “pain”)

A common user error is to have one or more blank spaces at the end of a heading. When the user places the cursor at the end of the visible text this is in fact in the middle of the heading, so pressing enter splits it into two headings, with the new one still having the blank spaces at the end.
