We use the Marlett bullet (character 103 in Word2000 – I’m sure had a different number in Word97). We did have the capability of being able to do a search & replace in Word97, now lost in Word2000. I don’t want to start writing code. Can I just type the character code in find and replace with clipboards contents?
I’ve located a couple of character maps but would like to find one that includes all symbol sets – i.e. Marlett bullets. Any help or advice?

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 11, 2001 at 3:12 pm #541910Hi Patricia,
Word 2000 uses Unicode. Characters from old “decorative” fonts (like Symbol-, Wingdings-fonts …) are banned to a special code page (reserved for “private use”) starting at U+F000 (61440).
Since 61440+103=61543 you can find the character searching for ^u61543.Regards, Klaus Linke

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 13, 2001 at 8:39 am #542214That was my first idea, too. And ^u has to be two characters (not the u with ^-accent).
Another method is to type Alt-61543 (hold down the Alt-key, then type the numbers on the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard. For this to work, NumLock must be active (if there is a lamp “Num”, it should be on).
Greetings, Klaus
