A colleague has asked me to solve the problem on her laptop of Word’s putting up the error message “Do you want to revert to the saved version of ?” every time she opens a document. Before getting around to looking into that, I started using a new laptop yesterday — and it’s showing exactly the same error message.
I believe it has to do with Word2000’s not closing files properly when they’re created, but I can find NOTHING on the topic in the MS Knowledge Base.
Erhm … help ? Please ?

AskWoody LoungerJanuary 4, 2001 at 3:33 am #1774692Hi,
I’ve usually received that message when there’s another copy of the same document open elsewhere- on another Word session on the same computer. I don’t know if it can occur if you have the document open on another logon to the LAN. It’s also possible that Word previously crashed with this document open; and that Winword.exe is still running in the background Check the task manager to make sure that’s not the case.
Does this apply?

AskWoody_MVPJanuary 4, 2001 at 4:13 am #1774700You will get message when a file has NOT been closed correctly. It appears that all of the files that you have on your machine a copies of ones that were not closed correctly. Do you have the extentions showing in your files listing. If so what extentsion are you selecting?
