WORD skips spellcheck in area (WORD 2000 SR-1)

I have an EU who has a word doc. When she types in a certian section, a mis-spelled word, the proram ignores it. Spellcheck will also ingore it. However, on the top part or the bottom of the doc, if I type a mis-spelled word, it will underline and mark it. If I run Spellcheck, it will show up in the spell check box.

I did a Select-All and copied the contects into another blank word doc. Problem still there.

Document is abour Minutes of a meeting. There is a general section in paragraph form followed by a section in Outline form. Its in the Outline section that is having problems.

It is possible that the problem section of the document has been set to a different language, or to “no proofing”.

Try this

• Select the whole document
• Tools > Language > Set Language…
• select the language that you use (e.g. English (US)
• Make sure that the checkbox marked “Do not check spelling and grammar” is clear
• Click OK.

If I understand what you’re saying, that spell check works on one computer but not on another, there’s another possibility besides language. Could the user’s computer have a custom dictionary that includes certain words, so that they’re not marked incorrect?
