EU called about no visible toolbars for WORD. Had him hit ESC in case he was in full screen mode. Not the case. I searched for NORMAL.DOT and renamed it. Did not work. I was not able to test it under my profile, but I’m sure it would have worked. Is there a fix before I re-create an new Windows Profile for the person???

    Thanks

      Hi Chris:
First, make sure the toolbars are visible by right clicking the menu bar & choosing to show one of the toolbars.

Second, try to change the resolution of the screen (e.g. from 800*600 to 1024*768). This will help if the user has somehow placed his toolbars off the edge of the screen.

Third, open the VBE (Alt+F11) & open the immediate window (Ctrl+G). Then type the following line & press
      ActiveDocument.CommandBars().Position=msoBarTop

where is the name of the single toolbar you want to dock.

If none of those work, follow the steps in post 197827.
      Hope this helps,

Oh man, that’s one tasty name you’ve got there. grin

Now, with respect to toolbars, this comes up several times a year, so if the above doesn’t work, please try a Lounge search for more tips.

      Hiya

this issue happened to us here…however it was only 1 toolbar the ‘Standard toolbar’ which wasnt visible in Word 97.
When I right clicked in the menu area> to display the toolbar list > the standard toolbar was not in this list.
When I went to menu View>Toolbars> = not in list, then I went to menu View>Toolbars>Customise – to hopefully reset the Standard toolbar = not in the list.
I then went to add a new toolbar named ‘Standard’ >clicked ok it displayed a message ‘Standard’ toolbar already exists.
created code to force to display the Standard toolbar – result: no standard toolbar displayed.

the fix that worked for me to display the Word Standard toolbar again is:
delete the NT & local profile

you may want to give that a go!
      cheers Diana 🙂
