Word locks up when cutting and pasting (Word 2000)

Has anyone experienced Word locking up when copying and pasting between Word documents? I have had a couple of users who have this problem–if they move between documents, copying from one to paste in another, they get the “Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close” error message. Any thoughts?

If they have a clipboard extender running, this could be the problem.

Don’t have anything like that running on the computers in question.

I’d try to rule out troublesome scenarios like using Word as the Outlook mail editor, copying and pasting embedded objects like Excel worksheets and Equations, copying HTML or INCLUDETEXT or INCLUDEPICTURE fields that contain links beyond the PC itself, or having a nonmodal dialog like Find/Replace open. Then I’d look for something in the environment that is sensitive to switching documents, such as code in a global template or in a document template.
