I’m posting this here, although it might be an Outlook 97 issue.
When Word 97 is selected as the e-mail editor, it sometimes hangs the app with the message that there is insufficient memory (128M), and can only be fixed by turning off the editing function, and shutting down Outlook. There is no set pattern for this, although I often have multple files open in PPT, and XLS.When Outlook is re-started, Word can be re-initiated and works fine until….
I’ll post this in Outlook too.

This doesn’t answer your question, but I have had the same problem (using OL98, Word 97, Exchange). It only happens to me when I try to SAVE AS an email to my onboard disk drive. If I save the same email to an external ZIP drive, no problem. I have had the problem happen when Outlook is the only application open, so I think the message itself may be a red herring. The size of the email to be saved doesn’t matter either. All the ones where this has happened have been less than a full screen. Perhaps my additional list of symptoms will give someone out there enough info to suggest a solution.
