Word Freezes-force end task in Print Preview (Word2000-SR1-Novell)

Word freezes and forces the user to End Task via Task Manager if PrintPreview is attempted. One of the IT guys said a complete reinstall of Office 2000 is required. I’m a bit dubious and wonder if this might be a corrupt registry key re Word/data?
Has anyone else had this problem with Word2000(1a) or any suggestions?

What and where is the default printer?
This what Word is trying to use to display the document. It on line, active and if on the network is it set up right with correct drivers?

The default printer is Lexmark 2450S which sits right beside my desk. This freeze only happens when I switch to the (IBM) Novell LAN Image – when I switch back to my ‘normal’ Dell image no problem. So … m/be it’s looking for the previous printer which used to be a HP in our South Tower. I’ll check on that this A.M. Tx Dave. BTW – the Central Ontario Region Time (Toronto) is 0:530 a.m. – notice that when I post it reads 10:30! Whaaatt??

I would think that the IBM is not setup right on the network. Also the network could be slow in getting the connection to the the printer. Does it print ok without using the “Preview” mode?

Hi Dave, Yes. I’m able to print just fine on the Novell LAN (IBM) setup. It’s only when I, or other users attempt a print preview that the system hangs and we get kicked out of Word. I didn’t have time today to check out a regedit. The IT guy from the south tower says reinstall Office 2000 but it seems like overkill to me. What’s your opinion?

Do you have another printer on the network that you can test this out with? If so give it a try, I think the “IT” guy does not want to leave his desk and come over to your “Tower”.

Hi Dave. Yep – I did in fact try printing to other printers in my area with no problem. I’ll post back if I get an answer or with more info. Cheers!
