Is there any way that I can add a custom color to the default color settings in word?

Which colors do you want to customise – text and background, or the actual colors of the interface ?

Sorry, I am still trying to figure out how to post a question/reply… this is the first time I’ve ever used a system like this. It’s the text color I’d like to customize to add to the settings. I’ve figured out a long way of doing it and that’s through setting up a style, and creating a custom color… that’ll do, but was wondering if there were a short cut – faster way of doing this.

              Hi Sue:

A fast way to set up a style is to start with something close and apply manual formatting (here a font color; there is a button on the toolbar for that). Next click the cursor in the style box on the formatting toolbar & type in a new style name. Then press enter. You’ve just created a new “style by example”. However, if you want to add it to your template, you’ll have to go through Format/Style/Modify & tick “add to template”.

Note that there are some attributes that you cannot control using this method, such as style for the next paragraph, shortcut key.

              Hope this helps.

If you go to Tools, Format , Font and select the color and other settings you want for the default and then click the default button. You will be aske dto confirm.

            Regards

Sue asked this question for Word 2000, which offers a huge range of colours via Format / Font / Color.

Is there any way in Word 97 to extend the boring 16 “colors” that a font can have? I’m interested only for producing business cards, where a little more colour subtlety would be useful…

I think the only way in Word 97 would be to resort to WordArt, the full range is available there.

However maybe there us a way, but I doubt it.

I want to change the colors in the colorpicker popup to look similar to the one we’ve customized in Excel to have a common look&feel across Office2000 applications.
