I have a case where someone is using Word 2000 and constantly gets copies of her working files. The file names start with the ~ (tilda) and then have the last 6 or so characters of the file name. They still have the .doc extension, but they are unreadable with Word, but I was able to get to the text content using Notepad. THis is how I verified that the files were copies of the files she was working on.
The ‘Always Create Backup Copy’ under Tools and Options is not ticked, so I am scratching my head a bit.
Any ideas on how to not get these files?
