I find Word an absolute nightmare in creating manuals that have screenshots, arrows, textboxes, etc.. If you delete one line everything shoots all over the place, and arrows end up pointing at nothing!!! Would Publisher be any good for this sort of thing, or would someone like to recommend another application? Thank you, Andy.

We use it to publish a ten page newsletter every month. Lots of pic, arrows, etc.
It takes a while to learn, but worth the effort. IMHO

      Hi Andy,
I produce many manuals and handouts full of graphics and screenshots. I don’t say this will solve all of your problems, but I don’t seem to have a problem with misbehaving graphics.
Double click in the the graphic. Select Layout > Tight > Advanced and remove the tick from the move object with text box. OK back to the graphic. If arrows are incorporated in the graphic, try grouping first, then apply the above.

Hey, I’ll give that a try and see if it improves matters. Unfortunately, I still need to use Word, even though it’s PANTS!!

I’ve been working on this, and the image still jumps all over the shop if I attempt to type text beside or near the image. Any other ideas?

          Hi Andy
If you have Publisher – use it. I’ve been using it for 6 or 7 years for the kind of thing you mention. I’m now on P2K and although I use Word for letters and lots of other things, when it comes to complicated documents with pictures and fancy lay-outs you can’t beat Publisher.
          Good luck.

Publisher is great for exactly what you are talking about.
