I was wondering is there is a way to make “Page Layout” the default setting when you open Word? I’ve looked ever where and I cannot find a way to make it the default, it usually opens in the “Normal view” mode which means you have to then reset it to Page layout. It’s just a convenience thing and I thought perhaps someone on here might know how to accomplish this. Thanks for any in put anyone can give me.

    Regards,

      Jeff,

I’m not a word expert at all, but the way i would do it is to open word, change the view to page layout and close word without doing anything else at all. It works for me.

Brooke’s method works for me, too. That’s the way I’ve always done it.

Don’t know whether Brooke’s method will work for you or not. If not,

Open Normal.dot (right-click on the Icon and select Open).

      Close any other documents.

      Switch to Page Layout view.

Type any letter and then backspace (not undo).

Save and close Normal.dot. Exit Word.

See: Template Basics (http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/templates.htm) for more on templates (user and workgroup), global templates and Normal.dot.

      Hope this helps.

Charles and all thanks for your input I’ll give it a try. I believe I will have to change it in Normal.dot because if you close Word that some one sent you a document that is in “Normal” view Word will open in Normal view. The way Brooke said, will work if you remember to switch to PageLayout each time before closing. If Charles method works I’ll sure let you know. Once again thanks to all that responded, I really appreciate it.
