One of my students was attempting to use the Insert Footnote feature from the References tab in Word 2013/365. When she inserts the footnote, the superscripted # appears in the document as expected, but the footnote itself pops in with an extra paragraph marker above the location for the footnote. I have been in every dialog box I can think of – Modify the Footnote style, reveal styles, etc. and cannot for the life of me figure out where this extra marker is coming from. It can’t be selected or deleted. I tried completely deleting the Footnote Text style and letting Word rebuild it, but it immediately reinserted the additional space. Any ideas where else I can look? The footnote in question is at the bottom of page #2.
Thanks for any guidance. This is driving me nuts.
