When Word was installed from the Office Small Business Edition, user made sure to install help files. Now every time she clicks on Help, this happens: There’s a message saying “Building info database. Help isn’t installed.” She is told to put in the CD, If she puts in CD, or if she doesn’t and hits CANCEL instead, either way, the message is “Can’t find files.” Then the program’s Help file actually opens and everything is normal. Huh? She went through the installation again, but no luck.

    Thank you.

Office 2000 uses HTML help, and Microsoft has released separate updates for those components, sometimes breaking functionality in the interests of security, sometimes fixing it again. You might poke around Microsoft’s downloads section for anything related to HTML Help or Internet Explorer, and see if you can get everything patched up to date to at least rule out a problem with the HTML Help program files themselves.
