The Services editor is found in Windows’ set of Administrative Tools. Because I’m planning an in-depth discussion of Services in an upcoming column, I won’t get into detail now. But here’s a quick-and-dirty how-to for controlling WMPNetworkSvc:[/B]

[*]Open the services editor by entering services.msc into the Start menu search box.
[*]Scroll down the list of services until you find Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, then double-click its entry.
[*]Under the General tab, find Startup type and change its setting to Disabled (shown in Figure 1) — or any other option you wish.

Well after reading the info on newsletter I tried the above because I do not use any of the services As usual when I got in the General tab and changed it to disable I get the access is denied window. WHAT NOW????

You can access these services under msconfig. Try from there.

You can try typing “services.msc” (without the quotes) in Start > search bar. You will see “Services.msc” at the top of the search list. If you right-click on it and choose “Run as administrator” you should be able to make changes.

Always create a fresh drive image before making system changes/Windows updates; you may need to start over!
We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don't need anyone's approval, and we don't all have to do the same things.
We were all once "Average Users".

I tried both, the “msconfig” and the “services msc” and on each of them did the right click and chose the “Run as administerator” I still got the “access denied”

Are you logged into an Administrator account?

I’m assuming since I’m only one on the PC, I purchased the PC new and when I set it up I did not want to use any passwords etc. So I’m assuming it’s setup as a standard acct. How do I check it out.

Click the name or picture at the top of your start menu and see what it says below your account name.
