Is it possible to use an existing wireless network and connect a wired device? I have a printer with a network card. I’d like to connect this printer to and existing wireless network. What can I use to plug the printer into? Should I use another wireless router and, if so, how do I set it up?

      Alan,

Does your existing router have any RJ-45 ports on the back? If so, you only need to connect the printer via a patch cable and run the install disk that came with the printer to enable all devices using the router (either wired or wireless) to be able to access the printer. Of course, you will need to install the appropriate drivers on each computer you want to use the printer.

P.S. In future posts it helps if you specify your setup, i.e. Maker of router, model number, etc. It allows the responders to give fuller more detailed answers.

You can get a Wireless Access Point to connect your printer, but they are not particularly cheap. It may be cheaper to buy a new printer with wireless.

      cheers, Paul
