Any suggestions for a wireless adapter that eliminates the need to use a USB cord between your Android phone and car’s Android Auto interface?

Carlink are known for their products

      Ottocast‘s OttoAibox P3

      * I use an Android 12 AI Box in my car running my iPhone/CarPlay wirelessly.
The reason ? Video playback (Android VLC).

      * There are hundreds of cheap Chinese wireless adapters (check AliExpress).

The Ottocast line looks sweet.  I wonder if you can use the Android ones without the App?

Paul.   For Android Auto, new model cars either have full wireless support or only via a USB cord connection.  Full wireless is usually only on the deluxe car models.

For instance, my new 2024 Honda doesn’t have full Android Auto wireless, only music play via Bluetooth.  Essentially, I don’t have all my phone apps available on my cars own screen (Google Maps for instance).

If I had paid $2,000  +/- USD more, that car model trim would have come with wireless Android Auto.  So these adapters act as a bridge.

While the Carlink adapters look nice with a lot of features, I don’t trust anything that’s made and completely located in China… especially as a business.  And I dislike the idea of an separate App to use it.  After checking, the Motorola MA? device may work.. although abysmal start/connect times.

Doesn’t you phone have Bluetooth? Connect to the car with bluetooth. Then your phone is connected to the Internet By wireless.

Would you explain why you choose the Ottocast over the AA wireless?  Just curious.

At first I choose Ottocast P3 as I found the device has the features I need.
Due to shipping problems I have bought a different AI Box device from a local car infotainment shop.
