I have a PC that hasn’t been used for a while and after turning it on I discovered updates needed to be applied. 2019-09 Cumulative update. I tried updating and the update failed for an unknown reason. Then I downloaded the latest Update Agent update (2012) for Windows 7 x64 and applied that. That installed successfully. I tried installing the 2019-09 cumulative update again and it failed. Maybe too old? So I went and downloaded the 2019-11 cumulative update for Win7 x64 and ran that. Got a message “This update is not applicable to your computer”. Anyone have any ideas on how I can update this PC to the 2019-12 updates? I assume I have to do 2019-09, 10 and 11 first, but I can’t find 09 or 10 on the MS site. Only the November and December cumulative updates are visible.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

AskWoody PlusDecember 13, 2019 at 1:54 pm #2019177I had a similar problem.
Based on a previous post, here is what I would try:
1) KB4490628 Service Stack 2019-03
2) KB4523206 Service Stack 2019-11
3) KB4525235 Monthly Cumulative Rollup 2019-11sample of where the Microsoft Update Catalog is for KB4490628: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=4490628 ; choose the x86 or x64 patch for your Windows 7 version. Enter a difference KB number to find the other patches.
