Windows updates in Windows 7 64bit not working

I just realized that for about the last month, the security updates for Windows 7 x64 bases systems have failed to install. They go through the downloading and installing and then on the reboot, after a couple of tries and reboots, resorts back to the previous state and Windows is up and running. I have searched the web as well and Microsoft’s support and ran all of their utilities to no avail. I am totally stumped. I use Norton Security Suite from Comcast and I have run full scans as well as deep scans looking for root-kits, Malware scans, and have found no intrusions. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what might be the problem?

Try installing updates one at a time until you identify the culprit.

You said you’ve run Microsoft’s support utilities. Please be more specific about what you’ve tried as we don’t want to find and recommend something you’ve already done.
