I installed the Windows Sandbox to try it out, then I uninstalled it from Windows Features, and rebooted.

However, some big files were not removed. I don’t think they were there before. I’d like to know if it’s OK to delete them.

    The files are:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Containers\PortableBaseLayer\WindowsDefenderApplicationGuard.vhdx

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Containers\BaseImages\e9891e12-61d2-4dee-9969-8b1fb6d38b0d\BaseLayer.vhdx

Or can I even delete everything in the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Containers ?

One thought for you: I keep windows sandbox installed and find it handy to check out new-to-me utilities before actual installation. When sandbox is open and active, just drag & drop the install exe file of the utility into sandbox and run it. When done vetting the utility, close sandbox. Zero leftovers.

The folders/files your mention are present on my system. As usual they are also linked in many areas of the registry. Deleting the files won’t clean up the registry, but I think it’s unlikely it matter. YMMV

Reinstall sandbox and use a proper utility to uninstall (never use Microsoft’s uninstall) like : free, portable geek uninstaller, free portable Revo uninstaller..

These apps will remove all file and registry entries.

        Alex5723,

I’ve been using the paid version of Revo Uninstaller Pro for years and had to laugh at myself for not mentioning it. Thanks.

Can GeekUninstaller remove Windows Sandbox (which is a Windows Feature, not an application)?

AFAIK, you need to use the Windows dialog to install or uninstall Windows features. Third-party tools will not do that.
