I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, to create repair disks for my Lenovo running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
If I click check online for a solution, I get no solution, and no help at all.
I’ve copied the “problem details” below:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: recdisc.exe

recdisc.exe apparently does exist:
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is 2680-D524

Directory of c:WindowsSystem32

Total Files Listed:
2 File(s) 476,160 bytes
0 Dir(s) 94,163,746,816 bytes free
Running recdisc.exe from an elevated command prompt just gives the same results.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I’m not sure if this Hotfix is applicable in this case for you to try https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2541119 but should it be a 3rd party program conflicting which I’ve seen from Googling this problem, see if you can create a Repair disk in a clean boot. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929135

Sudo15, can OP make repair/rescue DVD from Safe Mode with Networking, or, just Safe Mode?

Sudo15, can OP make repair/rescue DVD from Safe Mode with Networking, or, just Safe Mode?

Hi Roland – I’d already thought of that as a means to isolating all 3rd party programs because in my Google travels, Box Sync or another program had caused the conflict and uninstalling those had resolved the problem.

One other had found moving “the hidden c:recovery file to a flash drive” had sorted it and the assumption was a corrupt Recovery folder, but was vague how this folder was found.

I checked out Safe Mode on mine and found the option isn’t available and with not knowing what d1H has installed, suggested the clean boot as the next best option.

I’ve seen where a problem with ole32.dll has required at least a repair install, but that was because Windows had reported it as missing and a sfc /scannow was unable to fix it.

Running the elevated command regsvr32 ole32.dll may re-register it but I’m not hopeful that would do it.

It would probably have been a lot easier to resolve if this computer had been a Dell as it is a known problem with those.

Sounds to me like OP might have corrupted/missing system files.

OP should run:

sfc /scannow

preferably from an administrator-level (“Run as Administrator”) Command Prompt (enter “cmd” in the Start/Search box, right-click “cmd” [under Programs] then left-click “Run as Administrator” – or go to StartAll ProgramsAccessories, right-click “Command Prompt” then left-click “Run as Administrator” ).

Post back with the results of the sfc scan.
