My computer is locking up several times a day. When I’m online and offline. I’m also getting short “em-space-like” lines on my Win 2000 start up screen and have several very small white dots scattered within the desk top blue background. I’ll be working in a program and all of a sudden the screen locks up. I then have to reset and end up losing lots of my work. Frustrating to say the least. Any idea as to what is going on?

Have you updated your display drivers recently?

If so, that could be causing a problem.

If not, there may be an updated video driver for your display adapter type from the manufacturer’s website.

Lastly, you could try running the System File Checker from a command prompt

      SFC /? to see options

You will need the Windows 2000 CD in the drive to run this.
