After working fine for four months in Win7 Ultimate, W.L.M. now displays the bodies of emails as attachments when I first open them. The next time I open them, or after a relaunch of W.L.M., they will probably show normally. How to fix ?

      Hi Sebastian42

Check the Read tab in Options.

“Show ToolTips in the message list for clipped items.” Does not appear in my ‘version’ of Options. In other respects, the Read tab of MY Options is identical to yours (the same items are ticked).

Thats because I’m using, IMHO the best version of WLM.

Mine is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3555.0308). I’m not aware of a choice in the matter.

There are some sites that still have the older versions of WLE 2009 available. Here is one. You would have to uninstall version 2011 to install the older version.

I do not have the problem you describe with my WLM 2011. Perhaps an uninstall / reinstall of WLE 2011 would solve your problem. Uninstall the whole suite, then choose which apps of the suite you wish to reinstall.

I will leave uninstall and reinstall as a tactic of last resort. I believe it would be very disruptive to my email system – not warranted by the small inconvenience of this glitch.

One thing to understand, if you do have to go the uninstall / reinstall route, your settings and emails should be saved in your data folder. These should then be picked back up with the new install. (I do not know for sure if this will work if you decide to back into the older version of WLM)

If your going to do anything to WLM, backup your mail first. 30942-Never-Lose-Emails

Some time ago I made a clone of my system and in that ‘disposable’ copy, tried uninstalling WLM, but the process got stuck and a message said that it could not proceed. Trying a new install over the original had the same result. So did ‘repair’.
Now, about two months later, W.L.M. RELIABLY fails to display body content normally, until I RE-open it.
I can find no other clues about this through googling.

      Hi Seb,
could you make images of all tabs in your accounts properties using the ‘Snipping Tool’ Put them in a folder, zip it using 7Zip then post it.
Remember to hide your email address.

This is how my Gmail settings look.

On the ‘General’ and ‘Servers’ tab insert your username including @gmail.com
On the ‘Advanced’ tab untick Leave a copy of messages on server.
      Do you sign-in to WLM ? 31491-WLM-Mail-Tips

I’m the only one who uses the PC, so signing in is automatic. For now I have decided to try NOT launching WLM WITH windows, but after its fully booted. I’ll know the result soon enough. I made that decision because currently there is NO advantage in launching with Windows, I have to relaunch it anyway.

    • #1341346

How did you manage to get WLM to launch with windows.

      • #1341348

To try and prevent it launching with Windows, I had a look at likely controls IN WLM, but failed to find one. UNticking the WLM and WLSync entries in MSConfig; StartUp tab turned out to be enough. So I presume these entries are autoinstalled; and if you want WLM to launch with Windows, make sure they are ticked.
