For some reason I have lost the Windows Helvetica Font Family (regular, bold italic) in my Word 97 Font List.. I need to Download the Windows Helvetica Font and install it on my pc so I can use it in Word 97.
Where do I find this Font so I can download it and how do I install it on my pc and into the Word 97 program.

Note This Helvetica Font must be a Windows Font – I cannot use a Non-Windows Font.

I don’t think it’s a Windows font – it probably came with your printer. It could be that you are set to only show True Type fonts. (Helvetica isn’t True Type.) Don’t know what version of Windows you are using, but in my Windows 98 you change that setting by going to Control Panel, then Fonts, then in the View Menu in the Fonts folder, go to Folder Options. Select the TrueType tab and see if the ‘Show only TrueType fonts’ box is checked. If your version of Windows is not Win 98, the details may vary, but the idea should be similar.

The Show Only True Type Fonts box is not checked and there is no Helvetica Font in the Font List indicating that I don’t have the Helvetica Font installed on my pc.

Oh, well. Worth trying. I wonder if it’s available on any driver disks that came with your printer? Alternatively, it may be that others using it in documents have extra fonts, like Adobe Type 1 fonts.

An alternative approach to the problem is to set a substitute font to use instead of Helvetica. In Word, go to Tools, Options, Compatibility, then Font Substitution. It probably already shows Arial as a substitute for Helvetica, as they are pretty much indistinguishable.
