I’d like to expand certain folders and subfolders in the Windows Explorer Navigation Pane and then make a digital copy (file) of the Navigation Pane that I can later edit and print. Haven’t been able to figure how to do this. Could anyone give me a hand? Thanks. –Mike

AskWoody LoungerAugust 19, 2013 at 3:08 pm #1407897I wouldn’t know how to do that other than to take a screen cap and edit that as a photo, or maybe try to run it through OCR.
For directory listing/printing work similar to what it seems you want, I use Karen’s Directory Printer. Resulting output can be saved to disk alternatively and it might take some experimentation with all the info and pathname settings to get it just right but all those settings give it a very granular ability as well. -

AskWoody MVPFebruary 15, 2016 at 3:29 am #1552077Wouldn’t using dir /s > list.txt work as well – list.txt can be opened in Excel, or Word. Maybe better would be opening in Notepad++ which has better editing for files like this. Other options could be dir /b /s > list.txt – just a list of files with the directory e.g. E:DocumentsIWMDuxford_Aircraft_Vehicles_List.pdf.
It depends on what information you want.
