I have WDS 3.01 installed. It is working OK most of the time, I have not had the need to change the folders that are indexed, it covers what I want.

Some week ago I let it re-create the index since I found some odd results. But it still happens some times. It is not that it doesn’t find the files I’m looking for (at least most of the time, but that is also dependent on my keywords, syntax etc.), but it finds other files that it thinks contains the keyword.

As a test I copied one Word doc. and looked at it with a text editor, ran some searches, the keyword isn’t there (and shouldn’t be there).

What could be the solution to this? Let WDS re-create the index once more?

I’m guessing that you have XP installed. You may want to try Download details: Windows Search 4.0 Preview for Windows XP (KB940157). It has several fixes and supposedly a substantial speed improvement.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, you are correct, XP is installed on this PC. I saw information about the 4.0 Preview the other day (Bink?), and thought that since I am now using WDS maybe I should have a look at it. I have not downloaded anything yet, and find that the WS4 Preview is only released in some languages, but the Multilingual UI Pack for the Preview covers Swedish.

I will try once more with removing old index/re-create index. I have not identified other problems, the searches are fast. And the top results covers the keyword I am searching, but sometimes I find odd results. And there is no way the word should be in the doc, completely different topic etc. Still, faster indexing, preview (if used), and other fixes/added features are of course good.

        Thanks.
