I’m trying to clean up my hard drives.

Using Tools | Report in Backup, I see a list of the reports that have been generated. I know where it stores those files, so I can delete the files, but how do I eliminate the entries from the list? Where is the list saved?

I found a list counter in the registry and I found a list of placeholders for the 10 lists, but no list of names. I’d like to know the right way to do this.

The actual report files are saved in:

Documents and SettingsusernameLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows NTNTBackupdata

The logs are in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftNtbackupLog Files

If you delete the registry keys Log#1, Log#2, Log#3, etc…. that should get you what you want

I found that setting the Log Files Count to 0 in the registry eliminates the list, but that is not really the right way to do this.

The right way is to leave Log Files Count set to 10, and to delete the Log#n keys.

I then ran a test and did a backup. Only the LOG#1 key was recreated and Log Files Count was not changed.

So deleting the Log$ keys and the log files themselves does the deed.
