I’m trying to create a golden image for cloning to identical hardware on Windows 11 Pro 24H2. I reboot into syspreps — Windows Audit Mode but can’t seem to be able to attach to my on prem AD domain to install my apps.

Is it possible to attach to a domain in Windows Audit Mode or should I be using another method?

I join, install everything, then sysprep the machine. Joining will happen as part of the OOBE setup – I always use a “join domain” user for machine joins.
You need to check that you have reset MS Office licensing if you use KMS.

What do you mean by ‘join domain’ user?

I’m also going to try blocking patches with local GPO, join the domain, install apps and sysprep.

This should, according to documentation stop the MSFT store from breaking my image. I really hope MSFT fixes these bugs, they are annoying.

I create a user that only has “domain join” privileges. Then I can stick the user/password in the scripts without issue.

      cheers, Paul
