Windows 7 Updates in 2023

For the first time in a while, I booted up the Windows 7 half of a laptop that also contains a test copy of Windows 10, and I was surprised to find that patches were waiting to be installed:

Now, the Windows MSRT and the Defender updates were not unexpected, but the .NET Security Update definitely was. Is this due to some sort of glitch, or does it mean that .NET patches are still being issued for Windows 7?

Inquiring minds want to know…

Given the fact that that is .net 6 it probably doesn’t have it’s detection set for the operating system. It’s looking for vulnerable .net.

If you’re inclined toward such solutions, using the publicly available “ESU Bypass” (v. 12 is now available), you can keep your Win 7 machines current with M$ security updates for the foreseeable future.

Thanks. After January 2020, I tried following the various techniques to continue receiving updates for Windows 7, but–having several such PCs to maintain, and given the ongoing twists and turns in the process–the work soon became overwhelming and I switched to 0patch after a few months.

Mainly I posted this because it was a surprise to see an update showing up that wasn’t for Defender or the MSRT.
