I was going to suggest Team Viewer. It works better, is faster, and has the backward compatibility (as well as cross-platform support) which the Microsoft product always lacked. When a third party simply does a better job with a class of software, I shed no tears over Microsoft’s loss.

This also goes for backup software, where third party offerings have for years offered superior performance and reliability, as well as ease of use, over Microsoft’s native utilities.

Then there’s antivirus… and the list goes on.

I just recommended TeamViewer to a reader, this morning… If your only reason for buying the “Pro” version of Win7, 8.1 or 10 is Remote Assistance, TeamViewer is well worth a look. And it’s free.
