    To whom it may concern:
I do have enough smarts to check device manager, reinstall it, check the router & cables (Dell computer is wired only: light is blinking at the port of the Dell)
Please pass this around to any experts for any suggestions you might have. This is related to problems with my computer AFTER I uninstalled Symantec EndPoint, an antivirus program.
Right now, I don’t have any antivirus on the machine, but I hope when I can download, I’ll get Microsoft Security Essentials.
Any free or paid tools or settings/tricks which could cure this Dell desktop Optiplex 360 System 7 machine to restore Internet access?
I’m going to try a DVD for 32-bit Repair Install tonight when I get home. Pray for me!

    Hi Manoj,

I got your message on my answering machine, but when you called, I was working on the machine with the

problem: CleanWipe had completely finished with the Symantec uninstall.

I’ve checked the router (OK, working with other devices)), swapped CAT-5

cables & router ports, made sure the light was blinking at the back of

the computer, reinstalled the device driver for the LAN) . snip. I would

like to get the computer in question back working (on the Internet) no

later than next Monday (our Labor day ) What is your schedule & what is

the time difference between me & you? snip. Could I call you & what’s your number? I have a

hearing problem & didn’t quite understand your phone message, so I

prefer it in an email. We can call anyplace in the US & Canada

    snip

    Cordially,

    Paul Walker Home Phone xxxxxxx

    snip.

    snip

Cell xxxxxxx (I don’t answer when driving nor when I don’t

    recognize the caller’s number)

I’ve just sent you an email advising you to remove your email before I read the rest of the post.

It’s best not to include any personal details in your thread such as your email and especially your phone number.

I notice that you have used something called CleanWipe to remove Norton but run NRT just to ensure there isn’t any residue https://support.norton.com/sp/en/uk/home/current/solutions/kb20080710133834EN_EndUserProfile_en_us

Boot up into Safe Mode with Networking to see if you can connect then, if you still don’t have Internet after running NRT a couple of times – rebooting after each.

I’m ready to remove my thread in this forum completely since my son showed me how to configure the LAN device driver & the machine now successfully connects to the Internet!
