Running Disc Cleanup utility after Windows Monthly updates causes computer to hang on shutdown. Message to not shut down computer is bogus. Advice found across the net to wait (for hours or even days) for this to clear by itself is also bogus.
Requires that computer be powered down (remove battery from laptop) then restart (start Windows normally) to recover. My experience with this covers last three-fourmonths. Problem originated in 2015.
I have also stopped running Disk Cleanup for at least the rest of 2015.
