Windows 7 does not have a calendar application natively.

Do you mean the calendar in Windows Live Essentials? If so, what version of WLE – 2009 or 2011? If not, then the calendar in what application?

If you were getting reminders by email, the source must be online. I believe that Windows Live has such a capability, but exactly how it works I’m not sure, as I have but tend not to use Live.

Oop, sorry Joe – I just realized that that was your post.

When I put an event on my calender in my Windows Live Mail, it automatically sends me an email through my Hotmail account announceing the event the day before. If this is what you mean, then Windows Live Mail requires a Live.com account to accomplish this, I believe. HotMail is one such account.
