Hi,
I have a problem accessing my Canon PIXMA MG4150 ‘All-in-One’ printer/scanner, using my new Laptop, which has Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit. When trying to use the scanner, using a couple of different Photo Editing programs, I get an error message :
QUOTE : “??C:WindowsTwunk_16.exe” cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows.” Having done quite a bit of research, there doesn’t seem to be an easy solution to this problem.
The printer/scanner device is connected wirelessly to my laptop and I can access and use the printer OK but not the scanner, from my Laptop.
My previous laptop had Windows 7 Home 32 Bit and everything worked fine on that system.
Since my new version of Windows includes the ‘Windows Virtual PC’ software for running in XP compatibility mode, I thought this might provide a solution…..
So I set up the Virtual XP PC and installed the latest drivers for the Canon PIXMA MG4150 , and the printer is now recognized within the Virtual XP machine.
The printer works fine but again, the scanner is not recognized. I’m using the latest version of ‘Irfanview’ to test the scanning facility and when I click on ‘Select Scan/TWAIN source…’, The ‘Select Source’ window just remain blank, so I cannot select the scanner. Looking in ‘Irfanview’s’ help facility for TWAIN, within the text, it states the following QUOTE : “Note: this dialog is shown/managed by Windows, not by IrfanView.”
I know that the scanner facility is working, since I can access it OK using ‘Irfanview’ on my other laptop (the Win 7 32 bit one)
I even tried disabling the Firewall on the Virtual PC but this did not help. I also checked that the ‘TWAIN’ and ‘Twunk’ files exist in the Windows folder in the Virtual PC’s C_Drive.
I would really appreciate any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem…..
Thanks !
